The name Forrest Bess (19111977) (also) remained unknown in Europe up to now. Bess experienced an individual cosmology and mythology and found for its representation a fascinating world of signs and spaces off the tracks of the modern American schools. In several respects his work is connected to those of Alfred Jensen and Myron Stout, who also belong to the generation of the Abstract Expressionists but found their own solutions for nonfigurative art.
